We are fortunate that Sydney has a museum which showcases Judaica, Australian Jewish history, the Holocaust and the contribution of Jews to the Australian military. It is a facility in which one can learn about Jewish customs and history, thereby breaking down barriers and building a bridge to greater understanding of the Jewish community.
Established in 1992 by Holocaust survivors, the Sydney Jewish Museum gives voice to the victims and survivors of the Holocaust. It is a state-of-the-art repository of historic objects and educates visitors with a mission which challenges understanding of morality, social justice, democracy and human rights. The museum serves as an antidote to antisemitism and all forms of bigotry.
Alongside its permanent exhibitions, the museum regularly features temporary exhibitions. It fosters has a productive relationship with schools, as a result of which about 28,000 students visit each year.
