A leading member of the German Foreign Ministry and acting Chair of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), Ambassador Michaela Küchler, will address the next NSW Jewish Board of Deputies plenum on “The rise in antisemitism in Germany and Europe”. Based at the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, she will speak to the local community by Zoom on Tuesday July 21 at 7.30pm Sydney time (11.30am Berlin time).

Ambassador Küchler’s full title is Special Representative of the German Foreign Office for Relations with Jewish Organisations, Holocaust Remembrance, the Fight Against Antisemitism and International Issues of the Sinti and Roma. She is a career diplomat with experiences in bilateral relations with France, EU enlargement and migration.

Germany’s Ambassador to Australia, Dr Thomas Fitschen, German Consul-General Peter Silberberg and Press Attaché Jens Hoch will be special guests at the plenum.

“This is an opportunity to hear directly from someone at the coal-face of these troubling issues,” Board of Deputies President Lesli Berger said today. “We urge members of the community to register and Zoom in. There will be an opportunity to put questions to the ambassador after her presentation.”
