IMPORTANT NOTICE:

It is with great disappointment that we have decided to postpone the plenum scheduled for Tuesday 17 March at 7.30pm.

The escalating health risk associated with Covid-19 (Coronavirus) has compelled us to re-evaluate all our forthcoming public events in the interests of the health and well-being of community members and organisations.

We look forward to rescheduling the panel discussion which was planned for the plenum on “The LGBTQ+ experience in the Jewish community” at the first available opportunity.

Panel discussion and Q&A

The experience of LGBTQ+ people in the Sydney Jewish community has been varied, ranging from complete rejection to enthusiastic celebration.

After the success of the marriage equality ‘Yes’ vote, the movement for greater acceptance of LGBTQ+ people within the Jewish community is growing.

Yet recent studies show four out of five LGBTQ+ people say they feel worse now than they did after the ‘Yes’ vote on same-sex marriage. What further changes are needed?

Panellists include Dr Kerryn Phelps, Jackie Stricker-Phelps, Bruria Hammer, Danielle Meltzer and the President of Sydney’s Jewish LGBTQ+ group Dayenu, Jonathan David.

This will be an all-inclusive gathering and we encourage members of the community to attend.
