In the wake of the recent events in Bondi, we have received an outpouring of heartfelt messages from people across the community and beyond. This page is dedicated to sharing those words of comfort and unity and are being constantly updated.
Messages from fellow Australians
The Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales is deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at Bondi Beach yesterday.
We extend our sincere condolences to the Jewish community, and our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families who have lost their loved ones.
We strongly condemn all acts of violence and urge everyone - our community and the wider public - to remain calm and avoid speculation while authorities conduct their investigations. It is vital that no individual or group is unfairly targeted or vilified during this time.
Our community stands for peace, respect, and solidarity. We call on all Australians to come together, support one another, and uphold the values of unity and understanding.

Rotary is a worldwide organisation of inclusivity, whose purpose is to support our fellow humans in any way to make their lives better. It is neither sectarian nor political.
We are therefore aghast at the events unfolding over the last 24 hours. We would like to offer our support in every way to the Jewish community. We value the contributions made to Australian society over very many years by the community. They must not feel isolated but are welcome and should always feel included. My fellow club presidents in the Eastern Suburbs and the Sydney city all feel the same way and many will be writing to you with similar messages of support. We all understand the meaning of community and speaking for Rotary, we value every member of the community, no matter what their role is, their religion , colour, race or creed.
Our collective hearts bleed for you. Our hearts go out to all members of the community, especially to the injured and the families of those who have lost their lives.
You are not alone. With, I believe the overwhelming majority of the Australian population, we grieve for you. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

The appalling occurrence yesterday evening at Bondi Beach was senseless, revolting, and an absolute horrifying Terrorist attack, an unprecedent act of antisemitic on the Jewish community at Bondi Beach where the community was celebrating their first day of Hanukkah festival, which should have been a night of peace and joy.
In this terrifying terrorist attack 16 innocent people including a mere 10-year-old girl and a Rabbi lost their lives and further around 42 people were wounded and are recovering in various hospitals.
These terrorist criminal bigots have no words for mercy, kindness, forgiveness, or love in the dictionary of their so-called faith and to expect sympathy, mercy, or kindness from such inhumane people towards the adherents of other communities and religions is like expecting “Milk” from a bull.
The members of the Sikh community are heartbroken, and our thoughts, sympathies go out to the families, who have lost their loved ones and those affected by this brutal merciless terrorist attack. Our Sikh community wholly stands by The Jewish people, and we do NOT condone any of these acts of violence.

and loss caused by the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach on 14 December 2025.

horrific attack.

Councillor Tania BrownLord Mayor Wollongong City
As Chanukah continues, I wanted to reach out to you directly in the aftermath of the
horrific attack in Bondi on Sunday evening. To see violence directed at Jewish
Australians at the very moment a festival of light and freedom was being marked is
confronting and heartbreaking.
I know the weight you and others carry right now as you continue to support a
community that is grieving, angry, and exhausted by the persistence of hatred.
Please know that my thoughts are with the victims and their families, and with Jewish
Australians across the country who are once against being forced to confront fear at
a time that should bring joy.
Chanukah has always been about endurance, about holding fast to identity, faith,
and hope when those things are under threat. The strength and dignity show by the
Jewish community in the face of such darkness is a powerful reminder of why that
light matters.
I want you to know that I stand with you and the Australian Jewish community. I am
grateful for your leadership, particularly at moments like this, and I remain committed
to doing everything I can to ensure Jewish Australians feel safe and supported.
As the Chanukah candles are lit in the nights ahead, may they bring comfort, hope,
and peace to your community.
Chag Chanukah Sameach.

I offer our heartfelt condolences to the Jewish
community of New South Wales following the tragic events at Bondi Beach. It is profoundly
distressing that such violence was directed at your community during Hanukkah, a time
meant for light and togetherness.
Townsville stands in solidarity with Sydney and the Jewish community as you grieve, heal,
and rebuild strength in the face of such unimaginable pain. We admire the resilience and
unity shown in the face of sorrow, and we share in your grief as fellow Australians.
This act of terror has no place in our society, and together we affirm our commitment to
compassion, tolerance, and peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their
families, and the wider Jewish community.
May compassion and faith bring comfort and strength in the days ahead.

Messages from the international community
On behalf of the Board and community of Congregation Adath Shalom (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada), I am writing to express our deep solidarity with you, the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, and the Jewish community of New South Wales in the aftermath of the horrific attack in Bondi.
We are heartbroken by the loss of innocent life and shaken by yet another act of violence that has targeted Jews simply for being Jews. Moments like this resonate far beyond national borders. From Canada, we are mourning with you, standing with you, and holding your community close in our thoughts.
May the memories of those murdered be a blessing, and may their families and all those affected find comfort and strength in the embrace of community.
Congregation Adath Shalom Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
We are deeply shocked and horrified by yesterday’s hideous deadly attack in Bondi, that costed so many lives and left so many wounded during the festivities for the first night of Hanukkah.
We stand in solidarity with the Australian Jewish Community during this difficult period and join the mourning for the tragic innocent victims.
We remain always in solidarity,

On behalf of the Wellington Jewish Community Centre, I am writing to express our horror at the attack on the Sydney Jewish community and our deepest condolences to the families of those murdered. We wish a swift recovery to those who were injured.
Here in New Zealand we feel like an extension of the Australian Jewish community. So many of us have family living on both sides of the Tasman, our children attend youth events together and we support each other.
We are all grieving with the families of the victims and terrified at the hatred that is continuing to creep closer to home.
I am heartened by the messages our local Wellington community has received from political leaders, friends, colleagues and neighbours who want us to know that we are not alone. I have seen reports of the messages of support for the Australian Jewish community and I hope you also know that you are not alone.
On Tuesday, for the third night of Hanukkah, we will be lighting candles at the New Zealand Parliament and we will be saying El Maleh Rachamim. The mayor of Wellington, Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers are expected to be in attendance and will join us in prayer.
We have hope that one day there will be no place for the hatred that enables terror like this to happen.
Please know that your community is in our thoughts and prayers. We pray in memory for those whose lives have been cut short, and for the full and speedy recovery of those injured.
Am Israel Chai.
